A wavy sound wave with a happy face, two round eyes and a big grin travels in from the left toward a large cross-section of a human ear. You can see the outer ear, the eardrum and the swirly snail-shaped cochlea with the tiny looping parts of the inner ear, so kids can trace how sound gets inside. Music notes are scattered around the ear, along with a small ukulele with little sound lines and a drum with two drumsticks and a zigzag pattern on its side. It's a nice choice for a hearing lesson or a music-themed afternoon. Bright turquoise for the sound wave and warm pink for the cochlea help the sound's path stand out. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the large outer ear and its top edge with peach, then color the inner ear ridges and lower ear fold salmon pink.
- 2Color the smiling sound wave character sky blue, leaving the eyes and the little shine spots white.
- 3Color the inner ear swirls and loops in soft violet and lavender, then fill the small round eardrum in golden yellow.
- 4Color the guitar body and neck golden yellow, and the drum body cream with deep blue and golden yellow panels and cherry red rims.
- 5Color the top music notes cherry red, the top right note tangerine orange, the right and small notes leaf green, and the lower notes bright blue. Leave the highlight on the middle note white.
- 6Optional: Add a slightly darker shade of each main color along one side of the ear and the drum for a bit of depth.
