Rainy Day Spider Sharing an Umbrella With a Frog

Raindrops fall all around a fuzzy, big-eyed spider sitting on a large leaf, holding a wide umbrella with one long, bendy leg. A small smiling frog with spotted cheeks perches on the edge of the same leaf, so the two look like friends sharing a wet day. The leaf has oval, puddle-like spots and visible veins, and a few blades of grass poke up in the bottom corners. The umbrella has clear panels that are easy for little hands to color. A bright yellow or red umbrella looks nice against soft blue raindrops, and green for the frog will help it stand out from the leaf. Print this free page, and maybe a few extra copies. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big leaf at the bottom and the grass blades on the sides in leaf green and forest green, leaving the small shiny spots on the leaf white.
- 2Color the spider's round head and its raised arm in orchid purple, then fill the belly and lower body with pale lavender.
- 3Fill the spider's legs in royal purple, leaving the little white highlights on the legs and the white shine on the arm.
- 4Color the umbrella panels alternating between red, golden yellow and bright blue, and add the brown handle and tip.
- 5Color the frog in yellow green, then add the coral pink tongue and the sky blue raindrops falling around the scene.
- 6Finish with the eyes: keep the eye whites white and add a dark pupil if you like. Optional: add a little darker shading under the umbrella and on the leaf for depth.
