Eight Planets Lined Up With the Sun: Solar System & Space Lineup

Along the left edge, a big smiling sun with wavy, flame-like rays looks out over a row of eight little planets standing side by side. Most of them have cheerful faces, including a banded gas giant in the middle and a Saturn-style ringed planet next to it. Curved orbit lines sweep out around the sun behind the row. The background is packed with small stars, shooting stars with long trails and two bands of tiny asteroid rocks. Look around the corners too: a ringed planet at the top, a spiral galaxy at the top right, a swirly nebula cloud at the bottom right and a big cratered asteroid at the bottom left. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the sun's round face bright yellow and most of its flame-shaped rays golden orange, leaving the small white shine streaks and the highlights along the rays white.
- 2Fill the planets with light orange for Jupiter and pale yellow for Saturn, then add orange stripes across Jupiter's middle and top.
- 3Give the Earth sky blue oceans with lime green and olive green land patches, and color Uranus aqua.
- 4Color the big cratered asteroid at the bottom left light gray, and the smaller rocks in brown.
- 5Add the spiral galaxy at the top right in violet, periwinkle and lavender purple, and the nebula at the bottom right in cornflower blue and sky blue.
- 6Finish by coloring the stars and shooting stars bright yellow, leaving the background white. Optional: add a little shading along one side of each planet to make them look rounder.
