Standing in the snow next to a small penguin is a round, fluffy snowman with big shiny eyes, a happy smile and a long carrot nose. Both friends wear striped, fringed scarves, and the snowman has two big buttons down his tummy. The little penguin stays close to his side with a cheerful beak and a wide-eyed look. Behind them, three snowy pine trees sit on gentle hills while snowflakes and round snowballs drift down. The shapes are large and simple, so younger kids can color this free printable easily, and the scarf stripes give older kids a bit of detail. Bright orange for the carrot nose is a good start, and you could give each scarf its own red and green stripe pattern so the two match without looking identical. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the snow ground, the snow mounds and the snowy patches at the bottom with pale ice blue, leaving the snowman and penguin white.
- 2Color the pine trees with forest green, keeping the snowy tops on each tree white.
- 3Color the snowman's scarf coral red, adding the stripes and fringe at the bottom, then fill the penguin's scarf with sky blue.
- 4Color the penguin's head, back, wings and sides charcoal gray, and the snowman's buttons charcoal gray too, keeping the penguin's belly and face white.
- 5Color the carrot nose orange, then fill the penguin's beak and feet with golden yellow.
- 6Optional: add a touch of light gray to the lower part of the middle tree for a little depth.
