Tucked inside a round woven basket, a sleepy kitten with closed eyes and a tiny smile rests its chin on its front paws. The striped tail wraps around its body, and a soft, rumpled blanket spills over the rim, with one corner drooping down the right side. The basket has a twisted rope edge and chunky woven slats, and simple tile lines mark the floor behind it. Whiskers, pointy ears and tabby stripes on the head and tail give little hands plenty to color. Warm orange and cream suit the kitten, and a pastel blue or lavender blanket will make it look extra cozy. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the cat's head, ears-free body and curled tail with golden orange, leaving the eye lines and nose dark outlines as they are.
- 2Fill the soft blanket under the cat and the edges around the basket with sky blue.
- 3Color the woven basket with woven brown on the wide weave rows, then fill the rim braid and the thin strips between them with light tan.
- 4Add burnt orange stripes on the forehead, the top of the head and along the tail, and paint the inner ears soft pink.
- 5Fill the front paws with cream white, keeping them light, and leave the floor tiles and background white.
- 6Optional: Add a little extra shading with a slightly darker orange or brown along the lower edges of the tail and basket for a bit of depth.
