Stargazing Mummy and His Big Telescope

Wrapped in bandages from head to toe, this smiling little mummy leans in to look through the eyepiece of a big telescope on a tall tripod, one hand steadying the tube. Around him the night sky is filled with outlined stars of different sizes, small dots, a large crescent moon in the upper right, and a shooting star with a curved tail at the upper left. He stands on a gentle grassy hill with little tufts of grass and round bushes at the edges, and a loose bandage tail trails behind his back. All those bandage stripes make lots of small sections to color carefully, so it's good fine-motor practice. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the bandages: color the mummy's head wraps, torso, arms, and legs in warm cream, leaving the eye whites and the small shine spots white.
- 2Fill the face and forehead with peach skin, then add the cheek with a light touch.
- 3Color the telescope tube and body in sky blue, and the eyepiece lens and inner end in navy blue.
- 4Use light gray for the tripod legs and joints, and charcoal gray for the feet at the bottom.
- 5Color the two bushes and the grass patches in leaf green and lime green, and the stars and shooting star in golden yellow.
- 6Optional: add a little shading to the bandages and the telescope tube with a slightly darker tone of the same color for depth.
