Striped-Coat Shepherd Boy with Sheep and Wheat, Jesus / Bible
Coloring guide
A cheerful young shepherd stands front and center with a big smile and a tall wooden staff in one hand. His long coat has wide horizontal stripes over a simple tunic tied with a sash, and he wears strappy sandals. Three fluffy sheep graze on a grassy hillside behind him, and bundles of wheat tied with rope stand in both the foreground and the background. Rolling hills, puffy bushes and a big sun with long rays fill out the scene. The striped coat is the fun part, so give each band its own bright color, like red, yellow, blue and green, and keep the sheep soft white or cream. Large, clear outlines suit young children, and this free printable works nicely for Bible story time at home or in Sunday school. Add this to your Jesus / Bible coloring page collection, alongside Flowers and Spring.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- denim blue
- warm beige
- sky blue
- grass green
- cream white
- wood brown
- forest green
- chocolate brown
- golden yellow
- navy blue
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the background: color the sun golden yellow, then fill the hills and bushes with grass green and forest green, leaving the sky and gaps between sprigs white.
- 2Fill the striped robe with denim blue on the wider stripes and sky blue on the alternating stripes, so the bands look like they are woven in a pattern.
- 3Color the face, neck, hands, feet and the tunic under the robe warm beige, then add the hair in chocolate brown.
- 4Paint the shepherd's staff in wood brown, the belt in chocolate brown, and the cuffs at the wrists in navy blue.
- 5Color the wheat bundles golden yellow and leave the wool of the sheep cream white, adding warm beige to the sheep faces and legs.
- 6Optional: add a little darker shading at the bottom of each sheep and under the robe folds to make the picture pop.
