Out on the deck of a wooden ship, a one-eyed Minion dressed as a pirate swings from a thick rope with a grin. His bandana has a skull and crossbones, and he's wearing belted baggy shorts and sturdy boots. One hand grips the rope while the other holds a big curved cutlass. The scene also has a round porthole window, a hanging lantern, wooden barrels in the corners, knotted rigging along the top and a seagull crossing a cloudy sky. Wide planks and a ship railing give kids lots of space to add detail. A red or blue bandana would look good, along with silvery gray for the sword and browns for the barrels and deck. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sky and sea: color the sky areas sky blue and the sea sections sea blue, leaving the fluffy clouds and the seagull white or lightly tinted with pale blue.
- 2Fill the wooden ship parts with chestnut brown for the walls and caramel brown for the deck planks, barrels and railings, with amber on the top railings.
- 3Color the minion's body and hands golden yellow, then add the red bandana and its tail in red, leaving the goggle glass white.
- 4Use royal blue for the overalls, dark brown for the gloves and shoes, and maroon for the open smile.
- 5Finish with silver gray for the goggle frame and skull, light gray for the sword blade, charcoal gray for the metal barrel bands, and cream for the sail. Optional: add a little darker shading along the deck and under the minion for depth.
