Three Butterflies Over a Strawberry Plant
Coloring guide
Three smiling butterflies flutter over a leafy strawberry plant on this free printable page, and a sun shines in the upper right corner. The plant has five ripe strawberries covered in seed dots, hanging from curved stems. Large toothed leaves surround them, along with several open five-petal blossoms with detailed centers and a few closed buds. Short grass tufts sit in the bottom corners. Each butterfly has its own wing pattern of hearts, circles or scalloped spots, so kids can try a fresh color mix on every one. Big, clearly outlined leaves and berries are good for crayons and markers, and the seeds and flower centers keep older kids busy with small details. Red strawberries, bright green leaves, and yellow for the flower centers and sun would be a good start. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big leaves and grass-like leaves in bright green, including the large top leaf, the bottom leaves, and the leaves around the strawberries.
- 2Fill all the strawberries with strawberry red, then leave the small white caps and seed dots unfilled.
- 3Color the sun and the small butterfly heads in sunny yellow, and fill the top butterfly bodies and heads with the same yellow.
- 4Color the purple butterfly wings in lavender purple and the pink wing patches in baby pink, leaving the white spots and dots unfilled.
- 5Color the orange wing on the right butterfly in tangerine orange and the small leaf near the middle in pale sage.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the strawberries and leaves with a second shade of the same color, and keep the flower petals and buds white as a finishing touch.
