Three cartoon jets fly together in a V, and each one has big sparkly eyes, rosy cheeks and a happy smile on its nose. The middle jet points straight up and leaves a long puffy smoke trail down the center of the page, while the jets on the left and right leave wavy trails that curl into spirals near the bottom. Fluffy outlined clouds float around the edges, with a few small ones tucked in at the sides. Each plane has simple panel lines on the wings and a tall tail fin, so there are plenty of shapes to fill in. Sky blue or red works for the jets, and soft lavender or pale gray suits the smoke. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the clouds: fill the top left, top right, right side, bottom left, bottom center and bottom right clouds with sky blue, leaving the background white.
- 2Color the three jets' wings, tail fins, wingtips and noses with golden yellow, keeping the canopies and faces white.
- 3Add bright red stripes across the middle of the center jet's body, along its sides and under its nose.
- 4Fill the blue canopy bands on the top of the center jet and both side jets with sky blue.
- 5Leave the smoke trails, the faces, cheeks and smiles white so the jets look bright and clean.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker yellow or red along the lower edges of the wings for a bit of depth.
