Topsy Turvy Sweet 16 Birthday Cake with Sparklers

A lopsided three-tier cake takes up the whole page, with each layer tilted a different way. The bottom tier is covered in big and small polka dots, the middle tier has a wide ribbon wrapped around it with a large bow at the front, and the top tier is decorated with a black and white diamond harlequin pattern. Two candles shaped like the numbers 1 and 6 sit on top, each with a flame, surrounded by little stars on sticks. Two sparklers shoot out from the top, and more star-topped sticks poke out from the sides of the cake. Beaded frosting trim runs along the layer edges and around the base on a plate. The dots and diamonds are great for bold color blocking, so try picking two or three colors for the patterns and saving a bright shade for the stars. It would make a fun card front for a 16th birthday.
