On a front walkway, a smiling child in a tattered zombie costume holds a jack-o'-lantern candy bucket full of wrapped sweets and a swirly lollipop. The hood has big googly eyes and a toothy monster mouth, and the ripped sleeves and pants are covered in patches and stitches. The kid's grin has a gap in the teeth. Behind them sits a cozy house with a shingled roof, a paned front door, a hanging lantern and a string of little pumpkin lights across the porch. One big carved pumpkin and two smaller ones are by the steps. A crescent moon and stars fill the sky, and flower bushes, a picket fence, a leafy tree and fallen leaves frame it all. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the night sky in midnight blue, leaving the moon and stars for later, then fill the sidewalk and lower area with light gray.
- 2Color the house walls and door in dusty purple, the roof in slate gray, and the front door in brick red.
- 3Fill the costume, hood, and sleeves with lime green, and the bushes and grass with grass green and dark green.
- 4Paint the face in peach skin and the tree trunk in chocolate brown, then color the moon golden yellow and the pumpkins in pumpkin orange.
- 5Add the candy bucket in pumpkin orange and the candy inside in lime green, then color the sneakers in sky blue and the sidewalk leaves in brick red.
- 6Optional: Leave the eye whites, hood teeth, and sneaker laces white, and add a little darker shading on the costume for depth.
