Coloring guide
Side by side, two smiling dolphins arc out of the sea, the larger one on top and the smaller one just below and to the right, with water splashing around their tails. Droplets and curling sprays rise from the ocean underneath. A half sun sits on the horizon behind them with straight rays fanning out above, three seagulls glide through the sky, and two puffy clouds sit at the left and right edges. Layered wavy lines make up the ocean in front. Little hands will manage the big shapes easily, and older kids can take their time with the ripples, splashes and rays. Soft blues and grays look good on the dolphins' backs with pale pink or white bellies, and warm orange and yellow suit the sunset. A free printable for a calm afternoon or an ocean-themed lesson. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill both dolphins' bodies, tails and top fins with bright blue, leaving the seagulls white.
- 2Color the waves with bright blue for the middle and lower bands and turquoise for the bottom band, then fill the sea surface on the right with sky blue.
- 3Color the sun golden yellow and both clouds pale blue, and fill the sea reflection lines and splashes with sky blue.
- 4Fill the dolphins' pale bellies, lower chest and the mouth edge with very light blue, and color the open mouths coral pink.
- 5Add aqua to the small splash at the bottom left and turquoise to the little center splash to finish.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of bright blue along the dolphins' sides to give them a little shading.
