One big-eyed pony lies on her back with her front hooves tucked up and a happy open-mouth smile, while a smaller pony stands behind her looking cheerful. Both have long curly manes and tails, with lots of swirls to color. Each wears a little symbol on her flank: a heart on one and a small flower-like mark on the other. A wide curving rainbow band sweeps behind them, and five flowers with round centers are scattered around the page. Small hands can handle the big body areas and rainbow stripes, and the curly hair gives older kids extra detail. Soft pink or lavender would look nice on the pony lying down. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the rainbow: color the outer and lower bands sky blue, the top band bubblegum pink, the middle stripe golden yellow, and the green stripes grass green and lime green.
- 2Fill the big yellow pony's body, head and ear with pale yellow, leaving the belly highlight and the back outline area white.
- 3Color the smaller pink pony all over in baby pink, keeping its eye and mane highlights white.
- 4Add the manes and tails in violet purple and light lilac, with bubblegum pink curls on top of the big pony's hair.
- 5Color the flowers: bubblegum pink and violet purple petals, golden yellow centers, and leave the bottom flower petals white.
- 6Optional: Add a tangerine orange band at the bottom right and a little golden yellow on the cutie marks to finish the scene.
