Music notes drift around the head of a smiling boy with short tousled hair as he sits cross-legged in the sand and strums a little ukulele. His shirt and shorts are simple, and his bare feet stick out in front. Gentle waves roll in behind him beneath three soaring seagulls, and a small sandcastle with a tower, an arched doorway and a tiny flag sits at the water's edge. Down in the sand you'll spot a scallop shell, a spiral seashell and a starfish. Younger kids will like the large open shapes, while the ukulele strings and sand dots give older kids something finer to work on. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the skin areas, including the face, ears, arms, hands, legs and feet, with peach skin, and keep the eyes white.
- 2Fill the t-shirt and its sleeves with sky blue, then color the collar with bright blue.
- 3Color the hair and guitar neck with medium brown, the guitar body and upper bout with orange, and the sound hole with dark brown.
- 4Color the shorts with grass green, the ocean and waves with light blue and sky blue, and the sandcastle top with golden yellow and its door with tan.
- 5Finish the seashells with coral pink and lavender purple, the starfish with tangerine, and the mouth with coral red, leaving the seagulls and music notes white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of the same colors on one side of each shape to give them a bit of shading.
