Here a little unicorn pony lifts one front hoof and tips her head up toward bells hanging from the branches overhead. Round buttons and tiny bows cover her body, and a big ribbon bow holds back her long, curly tail. Her wavy mane swirls past her spiral horn. Three tall tree trunks twist like candy-striped ropes around her, topped with scalloped leaves, and small flowers and grass tufts dot the ground. Younger kids can fill the wide open shapes in the mane, tail and trunks, and older kids will enjoy all the buttons and bows. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sky blue for the background sky between the trees and the grass green for the grass at the bottom and the leafy canopy at the top.
- 2Fill the tree trunks with warm brown, leaving the twisted stripes in between, and color the unicorn horn warm brown too.
- 3Color the pony's body and legs with butter yellow, then add golden yellow to the flowing mane and tail.
- 4Add lavender purple and bright pink strands to the mane and tail, and use baby pink for the big ribbon and the small bows.
- 5Color the red apples at the top and the hanging fruit, then give the eye a orchid touch and the forelock a light peach tint.
- 6Optional: Add a little light orange or peach to the tail tips and shade the belly with a slightly darker yellow for depth.
