Viking Girl and Baby Dragon Best Friends, How to Train Your Dragon Coloring Page
Coloring guide
Perched on a grassy cliff edge, a smiling young Viking girl in a horned helmet leans close to a small, round-eyed baby dragon, just like best friends. She has a long braid, a fur-trimmed tunic and fuzzy boots, and one hand rests on a big round wooden shield made of vertical planks. The little dragon has two curved horns, a spotted body, a striped belly, a bat-like wing and a fluffy curled tail. In the background are calm ocean waves, a rocky headland far off and three puffy clouds, and tufts of grass dot the ledge. Shapes are big and lines are clean, so it works nicely for younger kids with chunky crayons. Icy blue and teal on the dragon's wing and body will pop against a warm orange or gold helmet. Print it free as a PDF for a quiet afternoon. Looking for more? Our Anime Style and PAW Patrol coloring pages pair nicely with this How to Train Your Dragon page.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- grass green
- sand tan
- peach cream
- light sky blue
- rust brown
- bright blue
- slate gray
- dark brown
- ginger orange
- caramel brown
- chestnut brown
- silver gray
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sky clouds and the sea: color the two clouds and the small cloud on the right light sky blue, then the water on the left in bright blue.
- 2Fill the dragon and the grass cliff: color the whole green dragon, its wings and horns peach cream, and the grass on top of the cliff grass green.
- 3Color the girl's skin and fur: fill her face, ears and hands peach cream, then the fur collar and knee cuffs peach cream as well, leaving both eyes white.
- 4Work on the Viking look: color the helmet dome slate gray, the helmet band and horns caramel brown and peach cream, and her hair ginger orange, including the braid.
- 5Paint the outfit and shield: make the tunic and boots chestnut brown or dark brown, the shield planks rust brown, and the shield rim silver gray. Keep the eye whites and the dragon's belly plates pale yellow.
- 6Optional: add a few soft darker lines on the cliff rocks, the boots and the dragon's wings to give everything a little depth.
