A young paramedic stands front and center, grinning at you with one hand raised in a wave. His short-sleeved shirt has a star-of-life emblem on the chest pocket and sleeve, and there's a radio clipped to his shoulder. He also wears a belt with a small pouch, cargo pants with reinforced stripes near the ankles, and sturdy boots. The ambulance behind him has both back doors swung open, so you can see a stretcher, overhead cabinets and the light bar on the roof. A few simple bushes and curved ground lines frame everything. Shapes are large and clean, which is great for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Blue for the uniform and red touches on the emblems and lights make a bold combo. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the skin tones: color the face, neck, hand and waving arm with peach skin, leaving the eye whites and the teeth white.
- 2Fill the hair with chestnut brown, then the big ambulance parts: the bumper and interior walls in steel gray and the bushes in leafy green.
- 3Color the paramedic's uniform in navy blue: the shirt, sleeves, pants and both chest pockets, then add the star emblem and radio in charcoal black or leave the emblem white.
- 4Add the bright blue ambulance windows and the stretcher pad, then the bright red roof lights, with the middle roof light lemon yellow and the stretcher handles mustard gold.
- 5Use pale silver for the pants stripes and charcoal black for the shoes, belt and wheels, keeping the ground and ambulance door edges white.
- 6Optional: Add a little dark gray shading along the bumper and under the pants for depth.
