A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.

• pale parchment
• warm wood brown
• bright red
• peach skin
• dark brown
• sky blue
• leaf green
• lemon yellow
• brick red
• coral pink
• golden yellow
• charcoal black

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.

1. 1Fill the large parchment scroll and its rolled bottom end with pale parchment, leaving the outlines crisp.
2. 2Color the table and its legs with warm wood brown, and the chair with dark brown for a cozy wooden look.
3. 3Paint Santa's suit and hat in bright red, keeping the beard, fur trims and pompom white.
4. 4Color the skin of the face, hands and ears with peach skin, and add coral pink to the nose.
5. 5Fill the window panes and the quill feather with sky blue and leaf green, then add the lantern in brick red and lemon yellow for the candle glow.
6. 6Optional: Add the envelopes with pale cream and a leaf green seal, and finish the eyes and belt buckle in charcoal black and golden yellow.
