Young Deer Walking Forward With Big Ears

A young deer walks toward us with one front leg lifted mid-step and its head turned to look straight out of the page. Its ears are large and rounded, and its eyes have small lashes and brow lines above them. The nose is drawn solid black, which gives the face a clear focal point. The body is left mostly open with simple outlines, so there is plenty of room for smooth, even coloring. Short tufts of grass are sketched near three of the hooves, and one hoof is filled in black. This free printable works well for younger kids who want large areas to fill. Try soft tans and warm browns for the coat, then pick a lighter shade for the inside of the ears. You could also talk about how deer use their big ears to listen for danger while they walk.
