A smiling baby chick peeks out of a cracked Easter egg, with the top half of the shell tipped up on its head like a tiny hat. Both shell pieces have zigzag borders, polka dots and wavy stripes, so there's lots to color. The egg rests in a messy straw nest, and flowers with round petals grow on both sides and in the front corners. At the top right a friendly butterfly flutters, trailing a dotted line that loops behind it. The chick has big shiny eyes, a small open beak and fluffy feathers on its head and wings. Sunny yellow suits the chick, orange the beak, and pastel purple and pink the egg dots. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the chick's whole body and head golden yellow, leaving the two eye whites and the little highlights in the eyes white.
- 2Fill the beak with tangerine orange and the open mouth with rose pink.
- 3Color the top eggshell and the jagged broken pieces in sky blue and lavender purple, then add rose pink polka dots on the shell.
- 4Color the middle band of the egg in sky blue with rose pink dots, and the bottom band in rose pink, leaving the background white.
- 5Fill the nest with wheat tan and add caramel brown strokes for texture, then color the flowers rose pink or lavender purple with golden yellow centers and the leaves grass green.
- 6Color the butterfly with tangerine orange wings, golden yellow dots and a lavender purple body. Optional: add a little darker shading along the nest edges for depth.
