Chick Peeking from a Flowery Easter Egg
Coloring guide
A fluffy baby chick pops up out of a cracked eggshell, both paws resting on the jagged edge and a tuft of feathers sticking up on its head. Its eyes are big and sparkly, with long lashes and an open, smiling beak. On the shell you'll find a large daisy-style flower in the middle, two more blooms at the sides and a few leafy sprigs in between. Grass tufts and three small flowers sit around the bottom of the egg. Wide open areas on the shell suit small hands, and the fuzzy feathers and petals are there for older kids who like detail. Soft yellow works for the chick, orange for the beak and feet, and pinks, purples and blues for the egg's flowers. Print this free page for a quiet creative moment. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by coloring the chick's head, wings and body in golden yellow, leaving the eye whites white.
- 2Fill the large egg shell with sky blue, then color the small piece of broken shell at the top left in mint green.
- 3Color the beak in orange and the open mouth in coral pink.
- 4Fill the centers of the three flowers in golden yellow, and the two bottom pink flowers and the small one at the bottom in coral pink.
- 5Paint all the leaves and stems in leaf green, including the small leaf on the right edge in mint green.
- 6Optional: Leave the flower petals white so they stand out against the blue egg, and add a few soft shadows under the wings with a slightly darker yellow.
