Baby Penguin with a Fish in Its Beak on a Block of Ice

Coloring guide
This round-bellied penguin has big wide eyes and a little tuft of hair, and it's standing on a chunky block of ice with a small fish in its beak. Its flippers hang down at its sides and both feet sit flat on the edge of the floe. Wavy water lines stretch out behind it toward two small icebergs on the horizon. On the right, two more fish jump out of the water with little splashes around them. The big belly patch and the scaly fish are simple to color, so preschoolers and early elementary kids can both enjoy it. Soft gray or deep blue suits the back and head, the belly can stay white or go pale yellow, and bright orange fish will stand out against icy blue water. A handy free printable for an ocean or animal unit. Looking for more? Our Puppies and Cats coloring pages pair nicely with this Penguin page.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the penguin's head, back, flippers, and chin in charcoal gray, leaving the belly, eye whites, and the face patch white.
- 2Fill the penguin's beak, both feet, and toes with orange.
- 3Color the fish in its beak, both jumping fish, and the ice block in light blue, keeping the top of the ice white.
- 4Paint the water on the left and the splashes around the jumping fish in ocean blue.
- 5Add the icebergs in the background with pale ice blue, leaving their edges white.
- 6Optional: Add light back-and-forth pencil strokes of charcoal gray over the penguin's dark areas to give them a sketchy texture.
