Baby Spider Swinging Beside a Little Bird

Coloring guide
Gripping the two ropes with its front legs, a baby spider with big sparkly eyes and a wide open smile sits on a wooden swing. The swing hangs from a tree branch, and the spider's striped legs are tucked around the seat. Just above, a small round bird perches on the branch and peers down with a curious look. Large veined leaves fill the corners, with a cluster on the right side of the branch and two more at the lower left. The fuzzy tummy and the stripes on every leg give you lots of spots to color. Soft purple and pink stripes on the legs and a bright yellow bird would be sweet. Thick, clear outlines suit preschoolers and early elementary kids, and this free printable fits a quiet afternoon or a nature-themed class. This fits right in with our Spider coloring pages — see also Ghost and Bat.

- 2Color the spider's legs and thighs with tangerine orange, then add golden yellow in the small gap under the belly.
- 3Paint the bird's body and tail sky blue, and color the tree branch and swing seat warm brown.
- 4Fill all the leaves with leaf green, keeping the thin edge highlights white.
- 5Add pale cream to the belly and chest, then finish the open mouth with dark chocolate.
- 6Optional: add a slightly deeper yellow or orange in the folds between body segments for a bit of shading.
