We see this giant Godzilla from behind as he stands in the water, head tipped back and snout pointed at a sky packed with twinkling stars. A bold line of jagged dorsal plates runs down his back, his scaly arms hang at his sides with small clawed hands, and his thick tail curves along the bottom in ridged bands. Straight lines fan out above his head like beams of light. On either side of him there's a small city skyline and a few mountains, with simple wavy lines for the water. All those scales and spikes leave lots of little spaces to fill. Deep blue or purple makes a good night sky, and charcoal gray with bright blue plates gives the monster a cool look. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the charcoal gray on Godzilla's big scaly body, arms, legs and tail, filling the scale patterns, and leave the white highlight patches along the back and right arm untouched.
- 2Color the long back spikes and head spikes light blue, working from the bottom of the tail up to the head.
- 3Fill the pointed tip of the head with dark blue to make it stand out against the spikes.
- 4Color the thick light rays at the top of the picture golden yellow, and fill the water at the bottom with bright blue, leaving the white wave lines.
- 5Use cool gray for the city buildings and lavender purple for the hills behind them, then keep the sky and the small stars white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of charcoal gray in the shadowed scales near the legs to add depth.
