Backpack Buddy with Books and Apple, Teacher Appreciation Day
Coloring guide
This back-to-school scene stars a cheerful backpack with big sparkly eyes and a wide open smile. It has a zippered front pocket, a top handle loop and a shoulder strap curving behind it. Right behind the bag is a neat stack of three hardcover books, and a round apple with a stem and a leaf is tucked in beside them. At the bottom of the page lie a sharpened pencil and a ruler with little tick marks. Large shapes and bold outlines mean small hands can color without much fuss. A blue backpack with a yellow zipper pull, a shiny red apple and books in different colors would look sharp. Print the free PDF for a quiet, creative moment. This fits right in with our Teacher Appreciation Day coloring pages — see also Snowman and The Grinch.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the backpack's front face and right side in sky blue, and fill the back straps and top handle with deep blue and golden yellow so the backpack pops.
- 2Color the front pocket and its flap in grass green, leaving the zipper line and zipper pull in golden yellow.
- 3Fill the stack of books: the top and middle covers in bright red and forest green, the bottom cover in purple, and the page edges in cream.
- 4Paint the apple in bright red, add the grass green leaf, and color the pencil body golden yellow with its eraser in coral pink and tip in light tan.
- 5Color the ruler in sky blue and the yellow trim and side panel in golden yellow, keeping the eye whites, smile highlights and the handle opening white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading along the bottom edges of the books and the backpack for depth.
