At the top of this page, a big jellyfish leads her little family along. She has sparkly eyes, long lashes and a small curved smile, with curved lines down her scalloped bell and long tentacles that ripple and curl at the ends. Below her, two smaller jellyfish drift along, one on the left and one on the right. They have round eyes and open smiles, and each trails wavy, curly tentacles. Bubbles of different sizes are scattered around all three, some at the top left, some on the right and a few along the bottom. Small hands will like the big shapes and open spaces, and older kids can take their time with the curly tentacles. Soft purple or pink works well for the big bell, with lighter shades of the same color for the babies and pale blue for the bubbles. Print it at home for a calm, creative break. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the big mama jellyfish bell with light lavender, leaving the two eye whites and the smile unpainted.
- 2Color the two baby jellyfish bells: the left baby in blush pink and the right baby in sky blue, keeping their eye whites white.
- 3Paint the long wavy tentacles: the tall center one in aqua teal, the ones beside it in medium purple, and the curly ones near the mama in bubblegum pink.
- 4Add the small tentacles under the babies in soft gray blue, pale mauve, and aqua teal, then fill the bubbles with sky blue.
- 5Optional: add a few darker strokes of medium purple along the edges of the bells to give a little depth, and leave the background white.
