Full of birthday cheer, this grinning chameleon wears a striped party hat with a pom-pom on top and clings to a leafy branch, with big round eyes and a wide open smile. Its long tail curls into a spiral below the branch, stripes run across the body, and small scales line the back. Three balloons with wavy strings float behind it, curly streamers drift around the page, and a few leaves sit at both ends of the branch. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big body and head areas: fill the chameleon's head, back and sides with bright green and lime green, leaving the eye whites and belly highlight white.
- 2Color the leaves in medium green and bright green, keeping the thin light veins on the leaves white.
- 3Paint the branch in brown, then add the tail with golden yellow, turquoise, emerald green and orange stripes, following the curls.
- 4Color the party hat with red and sky blue stripes and a golden yellow pompom on top, then add the orange spikes along the back.
- 5Fill the balloons: the big one and the small one in red and golden yellow, the right balloon in sky blue at the knot, and keep the balloon shine spots white.
- 6Finish with the streamers in purple, sky blue and brown details, the open mouth in pink with a coral tongue, and a soft yellow edge on the jaw. Optional: add a few lighter lines on the body stripes for depth.
