Watermelon Market Stand with Blippi
Coloring guide
At a busy outdoor market, a smiling boy in a striped shirt and suspenders hugs a big watermelon with wavy stripes. He's also wearing rolled-up pants and sneakers. Wooden crates beside him hold more watermelons, round apples and a bundle of carrots with leafy tops. Behind the stand, a friendly vendor in an apron and headscarf smiles from under a large umbrella, and a second umbrella plus baskets of fruit and leafy greens fill the background. Deep green and light green stripes suit the watermelon, and orange carrots and red apples will make the crates stand out. Print it at home, and maybe keep a few extra copies handy. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big watermelons: fill the melon rinds in lime green and the darker melons in the crates in grass green, leaving the dark stripe lines as they are.
- 2Color the red umbrella in tomato red and the yellow umbrella in golden yellow, then leave the sky, background, and the white parts of the umbrella top white.
- 3Fill the boy's face and arms in peach skin, his hair in chocolate brown, and his overalls and pants in navy blue, keeping the eye whites and the smile white.
- 4Add the apples in tomato red, the carrots in orange, and the wooden crates in caramel brown, using wheat tan for the lighter crate sections.
- 5Use bright blue and baby blue for the striped shirt, keeping the white stripes white, then fill the shoes in tomato red and leave their white soles and laces white.
- 6Optional: add a little darker shading under the watermelons, the umbrellas, and the boy's hair to make the drawing look more rounded.
