Up in the air goes this smiling boy in a baseball cap, one arm stretched high as the ball lands right in the pocket of his big leather mitt. His other arm swings out to the side to keep him balanced. He's dressed in a short-sleeved button-up jersey, belt, striped baseball pants, tall socks and cleats, so there's plenty to color. A wooden fence runs across the field behind him with rounded bushes peeking over it, and tufts of grass dot the ground while a few puffy clouds drift above. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the clouds in the sky with pale blue, leaving their outlines crisp and the sky itself white.
- 2Fill the face, both arms and hands with peach, keeping the eye whites and the open smile's teeth white.
- 3Color the jersey body and sleeves in royal blue, then fill the front button strip and its buttons in bright red.
- 4Color the cap top, side and brim: the crown and side in bright red, the brim band in royal blue, and the hair in chocolate brown. Fill the glove and its cuff in chocolate brown as well, leaving the baseball white.
- 5Fill the pants in light gray, keep the side stripe light gray too, then color the socks royal blue and the shoes bright red.
- 6Finish the fence in tan, the bushes and grass strips in grass green, and add the small grass tufts. Optional: add a few light strokes of a darker shade on the jersey and pants for depth.
