Boy Visiting the Lincoln Memorial for Presidents' Day
Coloring guide
At the bottom of a wide staircase, a young boy with tousled hair and a backpack stands with his back to us, looking up at a big seated statue between tall columns. The bearded man in a suit sits in a large chair, which matches the Lincoln Memorial and suits Presidents' Day nicely. Fluted columns run across the front of the building under a decorated band, fluffy clouds sit behind the roof, leafy bushes and trees frame the sides, and a tiled plaza spreads out in front. The backpack has a front pocket and mesh side panels, so there's plenty to color on it too. Soft gray or cream would suit the steps and columns, and bright blue and red on the backpack will make the boy pop. It's a free printable PDF that works for a classroom project or a weekend craft. - 2Fill the back wall behind the columns and the wall behind the boy with sand beige, then add the frieze and column bases in pale gold.
- 3Color the trees and bushes on both sides with leaf green and forest green, keeping the shrubs near the stairs forest green.
- 4Color the boy's hair chestnut brown, his shirt bright red, his jeans denim blue, and his backpack bright blue with a sky blue front pocket.
- 5Shade the stairs and pavement with light gray and the side ledges with pale stone, leaving the statue and columns white.
- 6Optional: add a few slate gray shadows on the clouds to make them look more dramatic.
