Racing straight at you is a sleek, low-slung car with two bubble-style cockpit canopies. Smoke or dust puffs up behind it, and speed lines streak along the road. Check out the oval side panels with round lights, the raised center engine piece, the small front headlights and the ribbed vent on the side. A suspension bridge railing and thick cable frame the road on the left, and water and distant mountains sit in the background. Big open areas mixed with fine details make it a good fit for vehicle fans from early elementary on up. Try orange or red on the car body, silvery blue on the canopies and soft gray on the smoke. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background: color the sky-free areas of the water and hills, using sky blue for the river and grass green for the hill at the top left.
- 2Fill the road and ground with asphalt gray, and color the bridge barrier wall with warm beige.
- 3Color the bridge pillars and cables with steel blue gray, then add pale silver gray to the bridge towers.
- 4Color the race car body in cherry red, leaving the two helmet canopies white so they look shiny.
- 5Add golden yellow to the car's center stripe, nose, and fins, and use tangerine orange and bright orange for the accents on the side and center.
- 6Finish with the headlights: color the rims pale silver gray and leave the lenses white. Optional: add a little darker gray under the car to make it look like it is racing on the road.
