Perched on a rounded rock in the water, this frog stretches its long tongue toward a tiny smiling insect in the air. The bug has big eyes, antennae and two wings, with little motion lines around it and a dashed trail behind. The frog itself has large round eyes, a wide open smile and spots on its legs and sides. Tall cattails and long grassy leaves rise on both sides, and gentle ripples circle the rock. Big shapes and clear outlines make it a good fit for preschoolers and early elementary kids building crayon control. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the big frog body and head with lime green, then color the large rock at the bottom in stone gray.
- 2Color the frog's legs, arms, feet and lower belly in leaf green, and add forest green to the darker spots and cheek patches.
- 3Paint the cattails brown and color the tall reeds and grass blades in leaf green, using forest green for the darker stripes.
- 4Color the pond water on both sides in bright blue, with pale blue for the lighter ripples, and fill the tongue and open mouth in coral pink.
- 5Add a small deep red corner inside the mouth, color the bug's body golden yellow and its wings pale blue, and leave the eye whites and background white.
- 6Optional: add a little darker stone gray along the rock edges and a few extra forest green strokes on the grass for depth.
