A butterfly with a round smiling face and two curly antennae is sitting right on the dotted center of a large daisy. Its wings are spread wide, with big circles and smaller dots on the upper and lower pairs, plus rounded petal-like shapes that are fun to fill in. Under the butterfly, the daisy has big rounded petals and a center covered in tiny circles. Two flower buds on slim stems stand on either side, and large pointed leaves reach out near the bottom. Bold lines and roomy spaces make this a good match for preschoolers and early elementary kids with crayons or chunky markers. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big flower petals and the flower center: color the daisy petals rose pink and the center disc golden yellow, leaving the small dots in the middle white.
- 2Fill the two large leaves and the grass blades at the bottom with leaf green, keeping the background white.
- 3Color the butterfly's outer wings royal purple, then fill the wide bands of the wings with sky blue, bright orange, and golden yellow, working from the top band downward.
- 4Add the hot pink inner stripes and the big rings and circles on the wings, plus the spots along the wing edges in rose pink and blush pink.
- 5Color the head and body with golden yellow and bright orange segments, then finish the antenna balls, legs, and the stem in the same colors as the example.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading with a slightly darker shade of each color near the edges for a more finished look.
