Cartoon Hen Standing Next to Her Egg

A wide-eyed cartoon hen stands on a round, scruffy straw nest with one speckled egg resting beside her feet. She has a wavy comb on top of her head, a pointed beak, a rounded wattle, and a jagged line of neck feathers where her head meets her body. Her wing is drawn as a large curved shape with feather lines, and her tail feathers fan out to the left. Her long toes spread across the straw. The egg is dotted with tiny specks, which gives little hands a nice spot for stippling with a marker or colored pencil. Try a warm brown or red for the hen, golden yellows for the straw, and then talk about how hens sit on their nests to keep eggs safe. This printable page works well for farm units or quiet time at home.
