Cat Watching a Tennis Ball Sail By
Coloring guide
A fluffy cat sits upright on a low stone ledge, head tipped back and eyes wide, following a tennis ball through the air. The long tail curls around the side, and whiskers and tufts of fur offer plenty of lines to color. Behind the cat, a boy on the left and a girl with a ponytail on the right each hold a racket on opposite sides of a tennis court net. Trees and bushes fill the background, with leafy plants in the bottom corners. It's a free printable that suits kids who like both animals and sports. Warm orange or gray works for the cat, and yellow-green for the ball. Give the two players different shirt colors so they show up against the green hedges. This fits right in with our Tennis coloring pages — see also Swimming and Baseball.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- tangerine orange
- grass green
- light beige
- sky blue
- tan
- leaf green
- light green
- lemon yellow
- soft pink
- warm brown
- golden yellow

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big sky blue tennis court areas on both sides of the cat and in the middle, leaving the net and fence white.
- 2Color the cat's body, tail and hip in tangerine orange, and the cat's cheek in pale apricot, keeping the eye whites and paw highlights white.
- 3Fill the trees, bushes and lawn with leaf green and grass green, adding light green along the court edges.
- 4Color the tree trunk and the left boy's hair in warm brown and chocolate brown, and the boy's shirt in sky blue.
- 5Use soft pink for the cat's inner ears and nose, peach skin for the two players' faces, bubblegum pink for the girl's skirt, and golden yellow for her hair and bow.
- 6Finish the tennis ball in lemon yellow and the wall blocks in tan and light beige. Optional: add a little darker orange along the cat's belly for depth.
