Tossing Up the Ball for a Tennis Serve
Coloring guide
This smiling girl has a ponytail, and she's tossing a tennis ball high with her left hand while her right arm swings the racket back to serve. She's dressed in a visor, a short-sleeved shirt with a round neckline, a pleated skirt, ankle socks and lace-up sneakers. A tennis net runs across the page behind her, with a net post on the right and court lines on the ground. Little ones can handle the big open lines, and the racket strings and net are good practice spots for older kids. A yellow-green ball looks great, and her outfit could be coral or sky blue, with a soft green court to finish. It's a nice pick for a sports-themed afternoon or a quiet break at tennis camp. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the skin: color the face, neck, raised arm, forearm, raised hand and both legs in warm peach, leaving the highlight on the hair white.
- 2Color the t-shirt body and sleeves in sky blue, then fill the court floor under the player in royal blue.
- 3Shade the ponytail, top of the hair and the back of the hair in chestnut brown, keeping a small white highlight near the temple.
- 4Color the visor front, top and brim in hot pink, and the small pink sole on the left shoe.
- 5Fill the net squares with pale mint, then add grass green to the net base panel and a few squares across the net, and color the net post in forest green.
- 6Finish with the white skirt, socks and shoes, and leave the background and the racket frame white. Optional: add a little darker shading on the shirt and skirt folds.
