Puppy Racing After a Tennis Ball

Coloring guide
One bouncy puppy with floppy ears and a wagging tail leaps across the grass with a big open-mouth smile. Its tongue is out, its eyes are wide and shiny, and the fluffy chest fur and round paws are waiting for color. Near the bottom, a round tennis ball with curved seam lines has just hit the ground, and little motion lines show the bounce. To the right, a small tennis racket lies in the grass, and tufts of grass dot the background. Thick, clear outlines make this a friendly free printable for preschoolers and early elementary kids still working on pencil control. Golden yellow and warm tan suit the puppy, with a pink tongue, and a neon yellow-green ball will pop against the grass. This fits right in with our Tennis coloring pages — see also Swimming and Baseball.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- golden tan
- lime green
- coral pink
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the whole puppy, including the head, ears, body, legs, paws and tail, with golden tan, leaving the eye whites white.
- 2Color the tennis ball with lime green, leaving the thin curved seam lines along its sides white.
- 3Add the puppy's open mouth and tongue in coral pink, keeping the small highlight shine inside the eyes white.
- 4Leave the background, grass tufts, racket and motion lines white so the puppy and ball stand out.
- 5Optional: Add a few light strokes of a slightly darker tan along the puppy's shoulders and under the ears to give the fur some depth.
