Out of a bite-sized hole in a big round apple pokes a caterpillar with a wide smile, shiny eyes and two bobbly antennae. His body is built from chunky rounded segments with little feet along the bottom, and he looks like he's curling around the edge of the apple. The apple has a thick stem and one veined leaf on top, and a few tufts of grass sit at the bottom. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the big apple body with apple red, leaving the grass at the bottom white.
- 2Color the leaf leaf green and the stem chocolate brown, including the cut top of the stem.
- 3Fill the bitten-out area of the apple with pale cream, the lighter flesh behind the caterpillar.
- 4Color the caterpillar's body segments, alternating leaf green and pale lime, and fill the head with yellow green.
- 5Add lime green legs and feet, golden yellow antenna balls, and the apple red open mouth; leave the eye whites and the grass white.
- 6Optional: add a few soft strokes of darker red on the right side of the apple for a bit of shading.
