Chameleon Catching a Fly with Its Long Tongue: Reptiles Sheet
Coloring guide
Wrapped around a thick branch by its curly tail, this cartoon chameleon stretches its long tongue toward a tiny buzzing fly. The fly has big round eyes, a smiling face, and two wings, and hovers in the upper right. The chameleon itself has huge googly eyes, a pointed crest on its head, a scalloped ridge down its back, and striped patches along its body. You'll see leaves in the top left and bottom right corners. Large shapes are easy for small hands to color, while the swirly tail and leaf veins give older kids a bit of detail. Bright green and yellow suit the chameleon, and a splash of orange on the tongue tip would look fun. Print it at home for a classroom project or a weekend craft. - 3Add the back spikes and tail spikes in golden yellow, with orange on the middle spikes and sky blue on the tail stripe.
- 4Color the open mouth with coral pink and the long tongue with amber, finishing the tongue tip in lime green.
- 5Paint the fly's wings pale blue and its body golden yellow, keeping the fly's eye whites white.
- 6Optional: Add a little yellow green to the lower body and a darker forest green on the bottom leaf stem for depth.
