Child in Tassel Hood Sliding on a Wooden Sled

A little child in a winter hood with a pointed tassel lies belly-down on a wooden sled, zooming down a slope with both feet kicked up in the air. The child wears mittens, a bulky jacket, thick pants, and boots, and holds the front of the sled with both hands. The face shows wide eyes and an open mouth, like a happy shout of surprise. The sled has long runners with crisscross slats, and a couple of simple lines suggest the snowy hill below. Big open areas in the jacket, pants, and hood make this an easy page for younger kids with chunky crayons. Try coloring the hood and mittens in bright matching colors so they stand out against a plain white snow background. It is also a nice starting point for talking about winter clothes and why we bundle up before heading outside. Print as many copies as you need for a snow day activity.
