Child Pilot's Airplane With Balloons and a Blank Banner

A happy child wearing a pilot's cap and goggles grins from the open cockpit of a small propeller airplane, with a long scarf blowing out behind. The plane has a spinning propeller, round wheels and a wing on each side. A big bunch of balloons is tied to the tail with a bow and floats above, and a blank ribbon banner trails behind on a line, ready for a name or message. Stars, scattered confetti and puffy clouds fill the sky. Since the banner is empty, it's handy for a birthday or classroom project, and kids can write their own words on it. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big banner and the airplane body: color the blank banner sky blue and the fuselage bright red.
- 2Fill the balloons next: make the center balloon golden yellow, the top balloon bright red, the top-right balloon bright blue, the left balloon grass green, the far right balloon grass green, the left-center balloon lavender purple and the right balloon orange.
- 3Color the wings, tail and propeller cowling golden yellow, and add the lower propeller blades and hub in sky blue and bright blue.
- 4Add the clouds in pale blue and the stars in golden yellow, leaving the gaps between balloon strings white.
- 5Color the pilot's face peach skin, the goggles and helmet in light blue and warm brown, and the wheels in charcoal gray.
- 6Optional: add a little shading on the wings and balloons with a slightly darker shade of the same color for extra depth.
