Dragon Dance Head with Sweeping Body and Pearl Ball

A Chinese dragon head with a curled mane, bushy eyebrows, round eyes, a wide open mouth with fangs and a round swirl-patterned ball near the jaw takes up the lower left of the page. Behind it, the long body sweeps up and to the right in big folded panels, like a paper fan or a parade costume. Rounded knobs sit along the edges of the folds. The tail rises in a tall S-curve with chevron stripes and ends in a thin, whipping tip. Black fills the eyes, the mustache, the nose tuft and the chin whiskers, so those parts are already colored. Try red and gold on the head and alternate two bright colors on the body panels so the zigzag stripes stand out. It also works well for a Lunar New Year lesson on dragon dances and parades.
