A chubby, ball-shaped creature fills the page, turned sideways with a happy, beak-like smile. Three pointed spikes run across the top of its head, and one ear has a small inner shape to fill in. The big round eye has a bright highlight and long lashes, with a curved eyebrow above. A little arm on the right holds up a rounded shape covered in spots. At the bottom there's a chunky foot beside a patch of feathery lines. Since there's no background, kids can focus on the character. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the big round body and the right wing with sky blue, leaving the eye and the shine spots untouched.
- 2Color the lower belly and the palm inside the hand with pale blue to give the creature a soft, light underside.
- 3Fill the yellow beak snout, both ears, the bottom foot, the finger tip and the spots on the hand with golden yellow.
- 4Use royal blue for the top spike, the back spike and the small patch at the elbow to add depth to the blue areas.
- 5Color the open mouth with coral pink, then leave the big eye white and the little white highlights on the eye as clean white paper.
- 6Optional: Add light strokes of a slightly darker blue along the edges of the body to make it look rounder.
