Circle of Matryoshka Dolls Holding Hands
Coloring guide
Six smiling dolls form a ring with their hands joined, almost like they're dancing around a patch of grass. Each one has a headscarf and a rounded dress with its own pattern, such as big daisy-style flowers or a single tulip, plus scalloped lace trim along the hems. Two of the dolls face away, so only their scarves and backs show. Two butterflies flutter at the top, and small flowers and tufts of grass dot the ground. Big shapes mixed with tiny details make this work for a range of ages. A different bright scarf for each doll, maybe red, turquoise and sunny yellow, repeated in the flower petals, will tie the whole circle together. No sign-up is needed for the free printable. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the headscarves: color the bottom center doll's scarf bright green, the left doll's scarf and the right doll's scarf bright blue, the top doll's scarf red, the left doll's headscarf yellow, and the bottom left doll's scarf rose pink.
- 2Fill the dolls' dresses: the top doll's dress and sides in bright blue with gray on its right side, the left top doll in red, the right top doll in bright green, the bottom left doll in bright blue, the bottom center doll in light pink, and the bottom right doll in orange.
- 3Color the faces and hair: leave the eye whites and cheeks light, fill the faces with skin tone, and color the top doll's hair caramel and the right doll's hair brown.
- 4Add the skirt hems and lace edges: use red for the top doll's hem, light pink for the bottom doll's skirt, and orange for the right doll's hem, leaving the white lace trim unpainted.
- 5Finish with the butterflies and flowers: color the butterfly wings yellow and purple, the grass and flower leaves bright green, and the flower petals red or coral red with yellow centers. Optional: add a little darker shading along the edges of the dresses for depth.
