Thirsty Cow at the Pond with Mother Duck and Ducklings
Coloring guide
A big-eyed cow leans over a quiet pond with her nose just touching the water, sending ripples across the surface. Her patchy spots, small horns, tufted forehead and tufted tail are all drawn with clean, easy-to-follow outlines. On the water in front of her, a mother duck swims beside three little ducklings, and lily pads and two water lily blooms float close by. Tall cattails and grassy reeds frame both sides of the page, with round rocks along the bank and rolling hills and leafy trees behind. This free printable gives kids lots of different areas to color, from the big space of the cow's body to tiny flower details. Soft yellow ducklings, pink water lilies, and brown or black patches on the cow will pop against a blue pond. This fits right in with our Cow coloring pages — see also Shark and Monkey.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the cow's big body and face with cream white, then color the cow's patches and tail with dark brown and the horns with soft gold.
- 2Color the cow's nose and ears blush pink and the hooves dark gray, leaving the small eye shines white.
- 3Paint the ducklings lemon yellow and the duck's beak orange, keeping the big duck's body and wing white.
- 4Use sky blue for the pond ripples and the water under the duck and ducklings, and rose pink for the lily flowers.
- 5Add leaf green to the lily pads, bushes, reeds and tree leaves, then fill the hills, grass and cattail stems with lime green and dark brown.
- 6Optional: add a little caramel brown to the tree trunks and a light gray touch to the rocks for a bit of depth.
