Girl Milking a Cow in the Barn
Coloring guide
Sitting on a little wooden stool inside a cozy barn, a smiling girl in a wide-brimmed straw hat milks a friendly cow. She's dressed in a plaid shirt, denim overalls with a pocket and tall rubber boots, with a long braid down her back. A metal bucket rests on the straw under the cow, who has big eyes, body spots and a bell on her collar. Behind them are a hay bale, a pitchfork against the wall, a hanging lantern, a wooden barrel and a window showing a red barn and fence outside. Loose straw covers the floor, which gives little hands lots of texture to color. Soft browns and golden yellows for the hay and stool, plus bright red for the barn in the window, would look good. Great for animal lovers and farm lessons, and free to print. Fans of Cow coloring pages often like Horses and Pig as well.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big cow areas: fill the brown patches on the cow with chestnut brown, and leave the cream areas on its body and head in cream white.
- 2Color the cow's nose and inner ears with coral pink, and the girl's face and arm with soft peach, leaving the eye whites and the cloud in the window white.
- 3Fill the girl's overalls and the stool with denim blue and caramel brown, then color her rain boots bright yellow.
- 4Paint the barn walls, roof beams and window frame with caramel brown, and add the sky in the window with sky blue and the tree with grass green.
- 5Color the straw hat and hay bales with butter yellow, and fill the milk bucket with steel gray.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading with a darker shade of each color on the cow's shadow side and under the hat brim for extra depth.
