Coloring guide
At the end of a stepping-stone path sits a round-doored little cottage, framed by a tall arch covered in roses, leaves and curling vines. The thatched-style roof curves low over the house, with a brick chimney on one side, a round-topped upstairs window and a flower box full of blooms beneath it. The wooden front door has vertical planks, a round window and a small knob, with an arched window on each side. Up front you'll spot a watering can decorated with a flower and several potted plants, including tulips, while little tufts of grass and bushes sit behind the house. Big rose petals and simple shapes make it work for a range of ages. Soft pinks and reds suit the roses, warm browns the door, and a mix of greens the leaves and hedges. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: color the house walls cream, the roof golden yellow, and the roof edges amber.
- 2Color the front door in ocean blue and frame it and the doorstep in light tan, leaving the small round doorknob ocean blue as well.
- 3Fill the arched windows with pale sky blue, and paint the window sills and flower box chocolate brown, with the window box flowers in pale sky blue.
- 4Color the stepping stones along the path in sand beige, and the grass patches between them in lime green.
- 5Paint the flower pots terracotta orange, the tulips and flowers coral pink, the watering can soft gray blue, and the roses rose red with golden brown vines and leaf green leaves.
- 6Optional: leave the small highlight spots on the roses and the cloud shapes in the background white for a bright, airy finish.
