Cozy Pirate Cabin With Hammock and Treasure Map

The round porthole in the middle of this ship cabin frames a small sailing ship on wavy water, puffy clouds, a round sun and a little island with palm trees. In front of it hangs a striped hammock with a patched pillow and knotted ropes, and a lantern with a candle dangles from the ceiling on a chain. Around the room you'll spot a wooden barrel with metal bands, a treasure chest with a latch, a small chest, books on a shelf, a towel on a hook and a round stool. On the table, an unrolled treasure map shows compass roses, an X, palm trees and dotted trails, beside a compass, a closed book and a mug with a ship's wheel on it. Bright blues for the sea view and warm yellow for the lantern flame look good. There's plenty of detail here for patient colorers, and it's a free printable. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big wooden areas: fill the walls, ceiling beams, floor and table top with caramel brown, going around the window and hammock.
- 2Color the porthole frame and the lantern top with golden yellow and light gold, then fill the lantern glass with light aqua.
- 3Fill the sky with sky blue and the sea with ocean blue, leaving the fluffy clouds in the window white. Add the sun in sky blue or leave it white for a bright touch.
- 4Color the hammock with crimson red and bright red, alternating shades for stripes. Fill the pillow with cream white and add a light patch.
- 5Paint the treasure map parchment and scrolls with pale parchment, then add the leaf green island. Color the towel and mug in navy blue, and the barrel, chest, shelf and rope in dark brown or burnt orange.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of caramel brown along the wood grain for extra depth, and leave small highlights white.
