Curious Penguin Looking Down at Its Egg

Coloring guide
A big, round-bodied penguin stands upright with its head tilted down and wide, curious eyes, looking at a large egg that rests on top of its feet. The flippers hang loose at its sides and the pointed beak aims at the ground. A calm line of water with little wave marks crosses the page behind it, with a chunky iceberg on each side. Soft mounds of snow run along the ground. The large open areas on the penguin's body are easy for small hands. Deep blue or black fits the head, back and flippers, and the belly can stay white or get a pale yellow patch near the beak. Light blue water would finish it off nicely. A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- charcoal gray
- light blue
- orange
- pale ice blue
- sky blue
- cream
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the beak, both feet and their toes orange, leaving the small shine spot on the right eye white.
- 2Fill the head, both flippers and the back of the penguin with charcoal gray, keeping the white face patches and eye whites untouched.
- 3Paint the water on both sides of the horizon with sky blue on the left and light blue on the right, then color the icebergs with pale ice blue.
- 4Add a soft cream color to the small curved crease on the chest just above the egg.
- 5Leave the belly, egg and snow background white so the penguin stands out clearly.
- 6Optional: add a few darker gray strokes on the flippers and head for a gentle shaded look.
